The park is relatively small, but it contains incredible variety of fauna and flora, which will certainly impress you. The heart of the park is Mount Meru, popular with trekkers aiming to avoid the often crowded routes of Kilimanjaro. Your day trip will include a visit to the Ngurdo Crater and Momela lakes, alkaline lakes whose shallow waters come from underground springs, which bottom is overgrown with many algae that water birds that live on their shores feed on. You will be able to see buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, warthogs, zebras and baboons, together with many different bird species. At the Momella Gate, an armed ranger will accompany you on walking safari that will give you opportunity to experience the wildlife from up close. There are not many other national parks in Tanzania that can give you such possibility, so it is something that you should not pass. There will be picnic lunch served in the afternoon, as you continue your tour in the safari vehicle through the park. After plenty of time for game viewing, we will take you back to your hotel in Arusha.
