Lake Chala is a caldera lake supplied by clean and cold underground streams coming from Kilimanjaro, well known for its spectacular changing colors, ranging from turquoise to emerald green and azure. This volcanic area is perfect for camping, swimming and exploration. There is a camping ground with several camping sites available, and here you can find a bar, restaurant, hot showers and barbeque grills.
Here you can hire a kayak and gaze around the edges of the lake, looking for birds and monkeys playing in the trees. If you look close enough, you might be able to spots baboons and even elephants during dry season, as they migrate from Tsavo National Park in Kenya. Lake Chala is a perfect place for bird enthusiasts, as you can see more than a 200 species permanently resided in the area! After all the excitement, you will have lunch, followed by return transport to your hotel.
